Day 01
Arrival / Negombo
Upon your arrival at Sri Lanka's Bandaranaike International Airport, you'll be warmly greeted by our representative, marking the beginning of your Ramayana Trail journey. We'll transfer you to Negombo, a charming coastal city known for its golden sandy beaches and rich fishing heritage. Take the day to relax, unwind, and acclimate to the tranquil atmosphere of this beautiful coastal town. Enjoy a stroll along the shorelines or indulge in delicious seafood at a local restaurant.
Day 02
Negombo / Chilaw / Kandy (Munneswaram / Manavari Temple) / Short Kandy city tour
As the sun rises, we depart from Negombo and head towards Kandy, the cultural heart of Sri Lanka. En route, we stop at Chilaw to visit the revered Munneswaram and Manavari Temples, both significant sites linked to the Ramayana legend. Seek blessings and immerse yourself in the spiritual ambiance of these sacred shrines. Upon reaching Kandy, we embark on a short city tour, exploring the picturesque Kandy Lake and the Temple of the Tooth Relic, which houses the sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha. Delve into the rich history and cultural heritage of Kandy as you wander through its vibrant streets.
Day 03
Kandy / Nuwara Eliya (Sri Baktha Hanuman Kovil / Seetha Amman Kovil)
Leave the enchanting city of Kandy and proceed to the breathtaking hill station of Nuwara Eliya. Our first stop is the Sri Baktha Hanuman Kovil, dedicated to Lord Hanuman, the noble monkey god. According to the Ramayana, this site is believed to be where Lord Hanuman first set foot in Sri Lanka while searching for Sita, Lord Rama's consort. Next, we visit the Seetha Amman Kovil, a temple nestled amidst lush greenery, where Sita is said to have been held captive by the demon king Ravana. Be captivated by the mystique and natural beauty of this sacred location.
Day 04
Nuwara Eliya / Bandarawela (Divurumpola / Gayathri Peedam)
As the sun ascends over Nuwara Eliya's emerald hills, we proceed to Bandarawela, a charming town known for its scenic landscapes and tea estates. Along the way, we visit Divurumpola, the place where Sita underwent the Agni Pariksha (trial by fire) to prove her purity after being rescued from Ravana. It is a site of great significance and devotion for many pilgrims. Continuing on our journey, we stop at Gayathri Peedam, where you can bask in the tranquility of this spiritual haven dedicated to Goddess Gayathri.
Day 05
Bandarawela / Ella / Kataragama (Ravana Falls / Ravana Caves)
The adventure continues as we head to Kataragama, a site revered for its religious diversity and sacred shrines. En route, we visit Ella, a small town surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and cascading waterfalls. Marvel at the majestic Ravana Falls, which cascades down with grace, and explore the mysterious Ravana Caves. Upon reaching Kataragama, you have the opportunity to participate in rituals at the Kataragama Temple, dedicated to Lord Murugan, a significant deity in Sri Lanka's religious tapestry.
Day 06
Kataragama (visit temple) / Ussangoda / Rumasela in Galle / Seenigama Temple Hikkaduwa / Sri Anjaneyar Temple Colombo
Spend the day exploring the sacred city of Kataragama and immersing yourself in its spiritual ambiance. The Kataragama Temple complex is a site of immense religious importance, attracting devotees from various faiths. Continuing our journey, we visit Ussangoda, a unique coastal plateau with fascinating geological formations and a legendary connection to the Ramayana. Next, we head to Rumassala in Galle, where it is believed that a piece of the Himalayan mountain carried by Hanuman fell, forming the iconic Rumassala Hill. Relish the panoramic views and delve into the tales associated with this enchanting place. We then proceed to Seenigama Temple in Hikkaduwa, dedicated to the protector deity of the fishing community. Absorb the serene surroundings and experience the cultural significance of this coastal temple. Our final stop for the day is the Sri Anjaneyar Temple in Colombo, where you can seek blessings from Lord Hanuman before retiring for the night.
Day 07
Colombo / Departure
On the last day of our journey, we explore the vibrant city of Colombo, the commercial capital of Sri Lanka. Witness the harmonious blend of modernity and colonial charm as we visit key attractions such as Independence Square, Galle Face Green, and the bustling Pettah Market. After a day of sightseeing and cultural experiences, we bid you farewell and transfer you to Bandaranaike International Airport for your onward journey.
